Sister Bibi Shariman Ali is an Ontario Certified Teacher with over forty five years of experience in the educational field. She holds a Master of Education, a Bachelor of Education, a Certificate in Special Education, a Trained Teachers’ Certificate, and an International Diploma in Administration and Planning. She has taught at all levels in the education system in Guyana and was involved in numerous committees and organizations including the Caribbean Council Examinations and the Child’s Rights Commission. In Canada, Sr. Bibi worked as a research assistant at Trent University from October 2013 to December 2014. She joined our school in September 2014, where she has been a valued member ever since.
Sister Amale Aldarwish - Grade 5 and 6
Sister Amale Hasan Aldarwish is an Ontario Certified Teacher with over fourteen years of experience in education. She holds a Master of Education from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), a Bachelor of Educational Sciences, and Additional Qualification Courses in English as a Second Language Part 1. She taught in the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) schools in Jordan for ten years as an English teacher. She was an active member of the school development team and provided training and staff development for 100 teachers. In Canada, she worked as an ESL classroom assistant teacher in Durham Continuing Education-LINC program, worked as a supply teacher for the Islamic Foundation School of Durham, and also worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT).
Sister Ishrath Unnisa - Grade 3 & 4
Sister Ishrath Unnisa is an Ontario Certified teacher, holding a Bachelor of Education with seven years of experience in the educational field. Sr. Ishrath joined the staff at Brock Elementary School in September 2018, where she was assigned to teach grade 1. She strongly believes that the role of a teacher is to use classroom instructions and presentations to help the students learn and apply concepts such as Math, English and Science. Sr. Ishrath is a dedicated and student-focused individual who is committed to providing a well-balanced, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all students. She possesses the aptitude to remain flexible, ensuring that every student learning style and abilities are addressed. She is a hardworking and trusted educator who strives to collaborate with all members of the school community to meet the needs of the students and promote the philosophy of the Islamic school.
Sister Syrah Hussain - Grade 2
Syrah Hussain is an Ontario Certified teacher, holding a Bachelor of Science from University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Education from York University. She grew up within the environment of this masjid and is excited to inspire the young children of this community. This is her first year at Brock Elementary School, however she has previous primary and junior experience with TDSB and DDSB. Her teaching philosophy focuses on the importance of having positive and encouraging relationships and a welcoming classroom community. She believes that when students feel welcomed, they are able to learn better and be engaged with curriculum content. She aims to incorporate fun, inquiry-based activities to enhance the learning happening within the classroom.
Sister Sohena Fatima – Grade 1
Sohena Fatima is an Ontario Certified Teacher, holding a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Studies from Ryerson University and a Masters in Teaching degree from the University of Toronto. This is her first year at Brock Elementary School and she has taken on the role of the Grade 1 teacher. Her teaching philosophy focuses on the idea that teachers must strive to build positive relationships with their students in order for the students to have a successful and confident learning experience. Sohena also understands that all students learn differently and at their own pace, therefore, she believes differentiated learning approaches are critical for students’ educational experiences. She aims to incorporate engaging, fun, and meaningful activities to enhance learning in the classroom through hands on activities, interactive games, and technology.
Sister Lubna Kafeel - SK
Lubna Kafeel is an Ontario and Alberta Certified Teacher with over fifteen years of experience in different educational and professional fields. She holds a master’s degree in mass communication and a Bachelor of Science degree from Pakistan and continued her academic journey in Canada by completing an undergraduate degree in Psychology from York University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta. She has worked in various teaching capacities in multiple organizations and school boards with a focus on kindergarten and grade 1 students. Her passion for education is further reflected in her volunteer portfolio, which includes facilitating after school Islamic programs at Islamic Foundation of Toronto and Pickering Islamic Center, and her past involvement with Toronto Public Library’s Learn to Read program. Beyond academics she has spent time volunteering with Western Canada Summer Games and Reviving the Islamic Spirit initiatives.
Sister Farida Sidat - JK
Sister Farida Sidat is a Registered Early Childhood Educator with 10 plus years of working and volunteering in the TDSB and DDSB. An alumni of Centennial College with honours, she is a member in good standing of the AECEO (Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario) and OCBCC (Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care). A well-known member of the community, she has taught at the PIC’s summer camp program. She also has CPR/First aid training.
Sister Faiza Khan - JK/ SK
Sister Faiza khan has a degree in Bachelor's in Art. She is a Registered Early Childhood Educator with eleven years of experience. She believes in helping children to improve their potential by treating them as capable individuals. She gives opportunities to her students to explore their ways of thinking.
Sister Khairyeh Bani Odeh - Arabic and Quran
Khairyeh Bani Odeh possesses a Bachelor in Arabic from Palestine and a Diploma in Pharmacy Technician from Ontario. She is a qualified Arabic Instructor and has the competence to teach Conversational as well as Classical Arabic. She can also translate the surahs of the Quran. Sr. Khairyeh has been a teacher at the Masjid Usman Evening School for seven years. Her dedication at the Quran Evening School was noted and she was asked to join Brock Elementary School to teach Arabic and Quran in October 2014.
Sister May Sanyoura - Core French
Sister May Sanyoura is a Bachelor’s of Science graduate from Concordia University. She is the new French teacher for Grades 4, 5 and 6. Sister May lived for 16 years in Montreal and studied French language there where she completed all the required courses. She taught French, and other languages, while working as a daycare educator as well as a teacher at a local masjid.
Sister Hafsa Binte
Sister Hafsa Binte Ahmed is our School Administrator. She earned her BSc in Computer Electronics from India. She provides general clerical and administrative support to the school.
