Qur’an & Islamic Studies Teacher
Location: Pickering Islamic Centre
Position Type: Part-Time (2.25 hours per day) Monday to Thursday
Job Summary:
The Qur’an and Islamic Studies teachers are the finding pillars of a students Islamic learning. The teachers will create lesson plans, provide daily lessons and other day to day activities within the EQS guidelines.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- To design, obtain approval, and implement daily, weekly and annual lesson plans under the PIC – EQS guidelines.
- To deliver lesson plans in an effective way. Be able to adjust and amend plans in accordance with guidance from Principal.
- To administer monthly and quarterly tests, quizzes and exams in accordance with EQS timetable.
- To communicate regularly with parents through defined EQS communications protocols and respond to queries within an acceptable timeframe.
- To communicate and respond to Principal's queries in an acceptable timeframe and implement Principal directives as required.
- Attend meetings, trainings, arrive and depart on time, and actively participate and contribute towards the development of the EQS program.
- To ensure that all Health & Safety protocols are being followed and report incidents to the Principal.
- Respect and follow EQS policies and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Must be a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Alim/Alima or Hafiz/Hafiza from a reputable institution - Preferred.
- Fluency in Tajweed and good understanding of the Makharij rules.
- At least 1-Year experience working in a classroom environment with children – Preferred.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and oral).
- Experience in dealing with sensitive situations - Preferred.
- Familiar with the online tools (emails, chrome, online meeting, etc.)
- Strong organization and time management skills
Pay:
- Pay Cycle – monthly after payroll deductions (Taxes, EI, CPP, Vacation Pay, etc.)
