Accounting Bookkeeper
Location: Pickering Islamic Centre
Position Type: Seasonal, Full-Time (35 hours/week) x 8 weeks
Anticipated Stat Date: June 15, 2026
Job Summary:
The Accounting Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with the day-to-day accounting and administrative operations related to the Summer Camp and Masjid activities. The successful candidate will support financial tracking, reporting, payroll preparation, and documentation in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records, receipts, invoices, and bookkeeping documentation.
- Assist with recording daily transactions, expenses, and income related to camp and Masjid activities.
- Prepare and organize financial reports, spreadsheets, and summaries for management review.
- Assist with payroll preparation and tracking of staff hours where applicable.
- Ensure all financial records are properly filed and maintained confidentially.
- Support budgeting and expense monitoring for camp activities and events.
- Assist with processing reimbursements, purchase records, and vendor documentation.
- Attend staff/team meetings, trainings, and contribute actively towards the successful operation of the camp.
Ensure compliance with organizational financial procedures and policies.
Assist with administrative and office-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Must be a Youth (Ages 15-30)
- Must be a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident and must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Previous bookkeeping, accounting, or office administration experience – Preferred.
- Student or Recent Graduate from a Canadian High School, College, or University – Preferred.
- Familiarity with bookkeeping software, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong communication and administrative skills.
Pay:
- $20.00/Hour, plus any applicable payroll deductions (Taxes, EI, CPP, Vacation Pay, etc.)
- Pay Cycle - monthly.
