We received the following message from our Councillor Br. Shaheen Butt for distribution:
“On behalf of Mayor Ryan and my Colleagues on Council, I’d like to invite you to join our community in expressing our thoughts, prayers, and reflections, following the deadly mosque attacks in Christchurch, New Zealand.
The City of Pickering will host a vigil on Friday, March 22 at 6:45 pm at Esplanade Park (behind Pickering City Hall) to honour the victims. It is critical that we stand in solidarity and ensure we protect our community against intolerance and hatred, and that our Muslim community feels safe and supported in Pickering during this time.
If you are unable to attend, books of condolences are available until March 29 at Pickering City Hall, Central Library, and the Pickering Recreation Complex.”
